I generally make it a point to post only my artwork in this blog but loooooook at these little guys by Marunokami. I want as many people as possible to have their days brightened by them. There are MORE
Sinkhole Devil from my and Stevan's story in the Sleep of Reason anthology. The fur is made of tussah silk, details sculpted out of polymer clay. Stevan did the rocks at the bottom and they are so good! The little grasses are made of hair from our dog!
happyguppytoys said: Hi Leticia, I attended one of your needle felting classes at Hill Country Weavers a few months ago and was wondering what type of wool we had the option of buying from you. I ran out in the middle of a project and don't know the type of wool to replace it with. Thanks! Danielle
Hi Danielle! I remember you and your adorable rabbit.
I’m actually going to be teaching another class this Sunday at the same place (Hill Country Weavers), same time (11-2), you can catch me then and get some more. I’ll bring extra. :)
Preview of one of my sculptures for the Sleep of Reason kickstarter. The creature’s fur is all Tussah silk, and I’ve been painstakingly applying it tuft by tuft.
While trimming this beast’s fur, I have probably inhaled, swallowed, and otherwise unwittingly absorbed a ridiculous amount of silk in the past couple of days. I can only hope that my inevitable death from silk poisoning will be considered heroic and land me a footnote in the annals of art history.
This monster is still available as one of the reward tiers in the kickstarter! But if you’d prefer to just get a paperback collection of original scary comics by a bunch of incredible artists for only $30, you can do that too!!
EDIT: OH GOSH it is in fact no longer available! Hooray! HOWEVER, I do have four other, smaller sculptures still available, and you can bet your pathetic mortal souls that they will be just as high quality.
Now up on the Sleep of Reason Kickstarter: A seven-page preview of Isaiah Smalley’s and Kev Anderson’s 20-page Sunken Ship. Check it out! Back the project!
My husband and I have a story in this anthology (not this story, another one). Check out this collection of amazing scary short stories drawn and written by a bunch of really talented people!
Memorial Day bat brooch sale! All these bat pins made to order at 10% off over at the Cretur Fetur store. Also, an extra 10% (of the FULL price, not the discounted price) goes to Bat Conservation International to aid in the fight against White Nose Syndrome.
One of my students from the Needle Felting on an Armature class! :D
This is an adult male Sinaloan Mastiff Bat chewing a mealworm. He was found acting strange and not flying. We still don’t know what happened to him and he is still not flying. But we are continuing to keep him warm, give him fluids and feed him insects and mealworms. I know some people may have mixed feelings about bats but I dare anyone to look at this face as it moves back and forth and not think it’s cute!
hee hee hee
his mouth moves like a muppet
